BYD expands the use of its 240-kW electric motor in other mid-range EV models

12-Dec-2025

BYD is extending the application of its 240-kW peak-power electric motor, called the TZ200XYAT, to several midrange electric vehicles, including the Seal 07 EV, Seal 06 GT, Seal 06 EV, Qin Max, Han EV and Ti3, as per recent regulatory filings.

This motor, a permanent-magnet synchronous motor, is rated at 120 kW with a peak output of 240 kW, equivalent to approximately 326hp. It is compatible with BYD's 800-V high-voltage architecture and also supports the megawatt flash charge system, featuring advanced components such as direct-cooling systems and lightweight eddy-current sensors.

The application of the TZ200XYAT motor spans various vehicles, with the Seal 07 EV featuring an optional roof-mounted lidar sensor, while the Seal 06 GT utilizes a rear-mounted version. The Seal 06 EV is available in both single-motor and larger body options.

The Qin Max EV also integrates this motor, maintaining specific dimensions. The Ti3 replaces previous rear motors with the TZ200XYAT and retains a 35-kW front asynchronous motor.

Meanwhile, the Han EV utilizes motor configurations with outputs up to 300 kW and peaks of 580 kW, with front motors ranging from 150 kW to 200 kW in midrange filings.

BYD differentiates the TZ200XYAT from its other high-output models, such as the TZ220XYAE and TZ220XYBS, which belong to the TZ220XY family and are often used as front motors in larger or dual-motor setups. Vehicles with the 240-kW motor are positioned in the midrange price bracket, between 100,000 to 150,000 yuan (about $14,150-$21,250).

The TZ200XYAT motor integrates with platforms such as the e-Platform 3.0 Evo and the new 1,000-V Super e-Platform, supporting megawatt charging. Developed in-house, it utilizes silicon carbide (SiC) technology and is designed for midrange passenger vehicles, with potential applications in larger vehicles, such as buses.
