BYD has launched the world's most powerful mass-produced supercharger, featuring a single-gun power output of up to 1,500 kilowatts, which is a 50% increase from its previous model introduced in March 2025.
The newly launched Flash supercharger, part of a significant effort by the mainland Chinese new-energy vehicle giant to advance charging infrastructure, includes two charging guns at each stall and a superfast discharging energy storage system, capable of serving 50 cars per day per gun. The design includes a sliding-rail suspended T-shaped pile to keep cables untangled and features a zero-gravity charging gun for ease of use.
In conjunction with this launch, BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu also announced the Flash-charging China strategy, which aims to establish 20,000 flash-charging stations in mainland China by the end of 2026.
As of early March, the company has installed 4,239 charging stations.
BYD plans for 18,000 of these electric vehicle charging stations to be built in partnership with local charging network operators, and the remaining 2,000 to be highway stations. It aims to place a flash-charging station within 5 kilometers in 90% of urban areas and one every 100 km along highways.
BYD has also announced plans to extend this network internationally by the end of 2026 as part of its Flash-charging Planet vision.
Vehicles equipped with the new second-generation Blade battery will receive a year of free supercharging starting from delivery, after which fees will align with industry norms.
