LG Energy Solution joins SDVerse marketplace with battery software for software-defined vehicles

03-Apr-2026

LG Energy Solution announced that it has joined SDVerse, becoming the first battery company to enter the business-to-business (B2B) automotive software marketplace. The move reflects the company's expansion beyond battery manufacturing into software and services for next-generation vehicles.

SDVerse, co-founded in 2024 by General Motors, Magna and Wipro, is described as the automotive industry's first B2B marketplace for automotive software, where sellers list software solutions that buyers can search, compare and evaluate. As software-defined vehicles (SDVs) emerge, SDVerse has become a digital hub accelerating innovation in software-defined mobility.

By joining SDVerse, LG Energy Solution is bringing its battery software capabilities into the SDV environment to enable smarter diagnostics, safer operation, and longer battery life. The company is offering five core battery software solutions: battery platform SW, safety diagnostic calibration tool, onboard FRISM, onboard BLiS and onboard DASH.

Battery platform SW comprehensively analyzes key battery status indicators and integrates LG Energy Solution's battery management system (BMS) technologies into an SDV-optimized architecture.

The safety diagnostic calibration tool enables safety diagnostics and simulation validation using battery data and provides algorithms that companies can use for in-house analysis and operations without external data sources, aiming to reduce data leakage risks and enhance security.

Onboard FRISM, also called the cell data free SOH model, is an algorithm-based automotive software that estimates battery condition using battery field data and enables diagnosis of battery degradation without cell test data by applying machine learning–based error correction.

Onboard BLiS is an algorithm that numerically predicts the battery degradation process and estimates changes in battery performance under various conditions, including predicting changes in rapid-charging capability as batteries degrade and simulating battery health based on a physical model by monitoring voltage, current and temperature.

Onboard DASH is an algorithm designed to manage EV battery lifespan by quantitatively analyzing how driving and charging behaviors affect battery degradation, monitoring battery status in real time, and providing guidance to support long-term battery health.

Prashant Gulati, CEO of SDVerse, welcomed LG Energy Solution and its battery management software, diagnostics and SDV-ready battery architecture to the platform, stating that the combination of battery expertise and software-driven intelligence contributes to the development of next-generation electric vehicles.

LG Energy Solution has developed distinctive battery software and service capabilities through more than 20 years of BMS development, accumulating over 10,000 BMS-related patents. In October 2025, the company became the first battery maker to receive a CES Innovation Award for software technology, for its battery life management solution, Better. Re. Through participation in the SDVerse ecosystem, LG Energy Solution plans to showcase its battery service and software technologies built over time. It aims to solidify its position as a comprehensive energy solution provider.

"The SDV era is turning vehicles into ever-evolving software platforms, and batteries are at the core of this transformation," said Je Young Kim, chief technology officer of LG Energy Solution. "By introducing our battery software to SDVerse, we are not only demonstrating our readiness for the software-defined future but also ensuring that our battery intelligence is reflected at every stage of the vehicle life cycle."
