Geely launches 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive system with world-leading efficiency

17-Jul-2026

Geely Auto Group launched a 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive system weighing 75 kg that will debut on the Geely TT, the mainland Chinese automaker said on July 16.

The 800V electric drive system integrates core electric-drive hardware and functions into a compact architecture, reducing the power transmission path and energy losses, Geely said. It was developed with support from InfiMotion, described by Geely as a core ecosystem partner.

The system helped the Geely TT record measured energy consumption of 8.20 kWh/100 km in an energy-efficiency challenge around Qinghai Lake, setting a Guinness World Records title for the lowest energy consumption circumnavigation of Qinghai Lake by a battery electric-powered production saloon/sedan.

Geely said the drive system achieves 93.8% China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) comprehensive efficiency, supported by its 800-V high-voltage platform, intelligent power optimization technology and process improvements.

The system supports a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a combined output of 425 kW, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. It also uses integrated control and AI-assisted torque management to improve response, torque delivery and stability under high-load conditions, the company said.

For thermal management, Geely said it developed a 54-channel directional cooling technology that can reduce maximum motor temperature by up to 15°C. The system also uses active lubrication for the shaft and gear structure.

Geely said the electric drive system is engineered around a 5-million-km durability target and has undergone validation across components, the electric-drive assembly and the complete vehicle.

In a separate challenge, the Geely TT achieved a continuous twin vehicle drift distance of more than 46 km on a wet surface, supporting a Guinness World Records title for the longest continuous twin vehicle drift on a wet surface by electric vehicles.

“As electrification accelerates across global automotive markets, electric drive systems are becoming increasingly critical to vehicle efficiency, performance, reliability and customer experience. The Geely 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive strengthens Geely Auto Group’s in-house capabilities in electric powertrain development, intelligent control and advanced manufacturing, supporting our broader strategy of developing safer, smarter and more efficient new energy vehicles for global users,” said Li Chuanhai, vice president of Geely Auto Group and president of Geely Automobile Research Institute.
