Micron Technology and General Motors (GM) have signed a Strategic Customer Agreement (SCA) aimed at securing a long-term supply of memory and storage products for GM’s vehicle production programs. The agreement is intended to improve supply chain stability as vehicles become increasingly dependent on semiconductor technologies and advanced software platforms.

As part of the collaboration, GM will secure access to Micron’s low-power DRAM (LPDRAM), NOR flash, and Universal Flash Storage (UFS) NAND products. The companies will also work together on future memory and storage requirements, including product development, system-level optimization and the qualification of next-generation memory technologies for upcoming vehicle architectures.

The agreement builds on Micron’s efforts to expand automotive semiconductor production, including its investment in the Manassas, Virginia, manufacturing facility, which began production earlier in 2026. The expansion is intended to support long automotive product life cycles and improve supply predictability.

Demand for advanced memory and storage is increasing as automakers add artificial intelligence-enabled in-cabin features, advanced driver assistance systems and software-defined vehicle capabilities. Through the partnership, Micron and GM aim to ensure continued access to technologies needed to support these applications.
