Mazda also plans to start producing the latest version of its mainstay Atenza sedan in China this year

Mazda's Chinese joint venture (JV), Changan Mazda, yesterday (18 August) launched a locally produced version of Mazda's CX-5 sport utility vehicle (SUV), reports Chinese state-owned news agency Xinhua. Priced at CNY169,800–252,800 (USD27,530–40,999), the locally produced version is cheaper than the imported CX-5 and is also more fuel efficient. Separately, the Japanese automaker plans to start producing the latest version of its mainstay Atenza sedan in China this year, reports financial daily the Nikkei. The new Atenza, which delivers 20% higher fuel efficiency than the previous version, will be assembled at a plant owned by local automaker China FAW Group in Jilin province. Initial output is targeted at 100,000 units per year.
