Hyundai has raised its production forecast at its plant in the Czech Republic by 10% year on year (y/y) to 330,000 units, according to a Reuters report.
Significance: The main reason for the hike in the company's production output forecast is the launch of the new Tuscon, which first rolled off the line at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) yesterday. The factory also began manufacturing the facelifted variant of the company's mainstream C-segment hatchback for the European market, the i30, which has also had the benefit of boosting output at the plant. The Tuscon has reverted back to the name of the first generation of Hyundai's midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) after dropping the alpha numeric system the company adopted for the previous model, the iX35, in the European market. IHS Automotive forecasts that the HMMC plant will manufacture 280,000 units this year as production of the new Tucson ramps up, rising to 317,000 units in 2016. The plant also makes the iX20 B-MPV.
