BASF will showcase a range of products for advancements in battery technologies and future automotive mobility

BASF will be showcasing its innovative power solutions at The Battery Show Europe 2024 in Stuttgart, Germany. As a leading solution provider for various battery applications, it will present its range of products designed to enable advancements in battery technologies and future automotive mobility. BASF's portfolio includes cathode active materials (CAM), recycling solutions, engineering plastics for eMobility, busbar technology and particle foam for EV batteries.

BASF offers one of the broadest CAM portfolios with a well-established position in key CAM technologies. Additionally, the company provides battery recycling solutions, offering its customers recycled metals with a lower carbon footprint compared to virgin metals. Furthermore, BASF offers a broad portfolio of engineering plastics for the eMobility market, such as Ultramid DC grades (Durable Color), and Ultradur (PBT) products.

The company has also made advancements in busbar technology for high-voltage power electronics, which play a crucial role in providing electrical isolation and connecting various components in high-voltage power electronics. Another significant innovation is the introduction of Ultramid Expand, a particle foam for electric vehicle batteries, which stands out for its exceptional heat resistance and mechanical properties.

For optimal protection and enhanced performance across a range of platform designs and battery systems, BASF offers a range of innovative coating solutions, including Chemetall's eco-friendly Oxsilan thin-film technology, and CathoGuard technology. By combining these technologies, BASF can significantly boost corrosion protection, thereby improving the durability and performance of battery systems.

Moreover, BASF has developed high-performance processing additives to help battery-cell manufacturers overcome challenges in all aspects of battery-cell manufacturing. The company has also introduced Licity binders to overcome the current limits of lithium-ion battery technology and has created OPPANOL, a highly versatile polyisobutylene, for next-generation batteries in automotive applications. Leveraging its broad portfolio of innovative technologies and solutions, BASF intends to help automotive manufacturers and suppliers create safer, more efficient and more environmentally friendly vehicles.
