Four years of restructuring has put company firmly on growth track

Over the last two years, American Axle & Manufacturing has endured one of the worst phases in its corporate history. The low point came in early 2009; the company received an auditor’s concern, the NYSE listing standard notice and multiple waiver extensions from its lenders. The bankruptcy filings of its two major customers, GM and Chrysler, which together account for about 90% of its sales, added further woes, bringing the company on the brink of collapse.
