GS Yuasa Wins Contract to Supply Lithium-Ion Batteries to PSA Peugeot-Citroën

Japanese battery supplier GS Yuasa has secured a contract to supply lithium-ion batteries to PSA Peugeot-Citroën, reports the Nikkei. The report states that the company will supply batteries produced by Lithium Energy Japan, a joint venture (JV) with Mitsubishi Motors.

Lithium Energy Japan will begin production of batteries at its upcoming plant in Ritto, Shiga Prefecture (Japan). The plant is expected to become operational in early 2012 and will have an annual capacity to produce sufficient batteries to meet the requirements of 50,000 vehicles.
