Honeywell sees 3.2m turbo vehicle sales in NA
Honeywell anticipates turbocharged commercial and passenger vehicle sales in North America to reach 3.2 million units this year, compared to 2.2 million units in 2011. Out of the total sales, passenger vehicles are expected to account for around 850,000 additional turbo engines, up 61% from 2011. “With fuel prices being a significant concern for consumers and businesses, turbochargers are a smart choice for getting more miles to the gallon,” said Tony Schultz, Vice-President for the Americas at Honeywell Turbo Technologies. Ford’s EcoBoost line-up and the Chevrolet Sonic and Cruze are among the highest selling vehicles in the US fitted with turbochargers. Apart from them, the Fiat 500 Abarth and diesel models of the Chevrolet Silverado and Volkswagen (VW) Touareg also sport the turbocharger engines. The 2013 Dodge Dart, slated to be released this year will also feature Honeywell’s turbocharger engine.
