Ford, GM jointly developing 9 and 10-speed transmissions—report
Formal agreement yet to be finalised
Several anonymous sources quoted by Automotive News have stated that Ford and GM have officially teamed up to produce two new transmissions—GM is quietly working on a 9-speed transmission for front-wheel-drive applications, while Ford is reportedly working on a 10-speed transmission for rear-wheel-drive applications, like trucks, SUVs, and performance vehicles.
