Kemet denies fault in Chrysler’s airbag-related Jeep recall
‘Material change in capacitor electrodes not responsible for airbag malfunction’
US auto supplier Kemet has denied allegations that a faulty capacitor used in Chrysler Jeep airbags led to their unintended deployment, reports Detroit News. Chrysler issued a global recall for about 920,000 2002-2004 Jeep SUVs last week after nearly 100 complaints from users. A statement from the carmaker associates a ‘design change to a supplied component’ with the inadvertent air bag deployments.
