Lost production for Japanese automakers set to continue until 2014
The latest IHS Automotive vehicle production forecasts for China show that the severity of the political dispute regarding the uninhabited but mineral-rich Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands in the East China Seas is threatening Japanese-brand vehicle production in China, with losses likely to continue into 2014.
Japanese automakers in China such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Suzuki have seen a sharp drop in monthly sales in October, following declines in September stemming from anti-Japanese sentiment due to the political dispute between the two countries over the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands.
