11th International CTI Symposium “Innovative Automotive Transmissions, Hybrid & Electric Drives” – 3 to 6 December 2012, Maritim Hotel, Berlin

Around 1,000 transmission experts from across the world will find out more about new concepts for conventional and alternative drive systems and market-specific framework conditions on the global transmission markets at the established symposium and accompanying specialist exhibition “Transmission Expo”.

The shifting emphasis from engine to transmission
Dr Gary J. Smyth (General Motors Company), Gerhard Henning (Daimler AG), Jan Kretschmer (BMW Group), Gerd Bofinger (Dr Ing. h.c. Porsche AG) and Yo Usuba (Jatco Ltd), among others, will discuss the increasing shift from the development of engines to the development of transmissions during the first podium discussion. The question of how many gears are sensible for which markets will be answered by Bernd Eckl and Didier Lexa (GETRAG International GmbH). And the challenges and solutions in the area of electrical drive systems will be addressed by Prof. Dr Jürgen Leohold (Volkswagen AG).

BRIC markets – which drive systems and transmissions are suitable?
The various technical and economic requirements placed on transmission and drive system technologies in Asia, Europe and South America are other topics to be covered at the CTI Symposium. This theme will be addressed by, among others, Ashok Bhandwale (Tata Motors Ltd.), Piero Toselli (Magneti Marelli Powertrain) and Alexander Edwards (Strategic Vision). A total of ten parallel series of presentations at the symposium will look in more detail at different transmission and drive concepts, as well as at the possibilities for electrifying the drive train.

“Transmission Days” in Berlin: symposium, exhibition and transmission test drive
The CTI Symposium “Innovative Automotive Transmissions, Hybrid & Electric Drives” has established itself as one of the most important events worldwide for transmission and drive system experts. Alongside the comprehensive conference programme, the accompanying and sold out exhibition “Transmission Expo”, featuring almost 100 international exhibitors, offers further opportunities to find out more about the global trends in the sector. http://bit.ly/cti-expo

The CTI Young Drive Experts Award will also be presented here for the fourth time to this year’s winner on 4 December in Berlin. It is awarded to the best young engineers in the area of transmission and drive train technology. http://bit.ly/cti-award
The two-day symposium on 4 and 5 December will be preceded by an introductory day on basics and practice of transmissions and HEV and EV drives and a seminar on the simulation-aided development of transmission control systems. As every year the event concludes with the opportunity to participate in a test drive of current transmission and drive system technologies at the ADAC Centre of Driving Safety Berlin-Brandenburg.

CTI Symposiums worldwide
The CTI Symposium “Innovative Automotive Transmissions, Hybrid & Electric Drives” in Berlin is one of the largest meeting places for transmission and drive system experts from across the world. In order to meet the increasingly specific interests of the different international transmission markets, a CTI Transmission Symposium has also been held in the USA for over six years. In September 2012, the CTI Symposium celebrated its successful entry onto the Chinese market and will take place again in September 2013 in Shanghai.
