Statement by Matthias Wissman, President of VDA calls for US trade agreement and common standards

Matthias Wissman calls for a reduction in trade barriers and a move to common standards in his presentation at the opening press day of the NAIAS in Detroit

Matthias Wissman, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) gave a presentation which lauded the record sales of German brands in the US and the impact of clean diesel and hybrid technologies that German companies have brought to the market. However, Herr Wissman was at his most passionate when calling for a reduction in trade barriers around the world and calling for common standards.
