Mazda agrees to produce new Alfa Romeo roadster in Japan
Will manufacture the new car at its plant in Hiroshima prefecture in western Japan, starting in 2015.
Mazda Motor announced on Friday (18 January) that it has agreed to produce an all-new open-top two-seater sports car for Fiat's Alfa Romeo brand in Japan, reports Jiji Press. The Japanese automaker will manufacture the new car at its plant in Hiroshima prefecture in western Japan, starting in 2015. The new Alfa Romeo roadster, which is to be based on the architecture of the next generation of Mazda's MX-5, will be developed for the global market. The agreement between Fiat and Mazda envisages that both automakers will develop two differentiated, distinctly styled roadsters featuring rear-wheel drive, with each powered by specific engines unique to each brand.
