Production remains halted at Ford's Genk plant as protests continue

Ford has yet to restart production at its Genk plant as ongoing protests continue to thwart attempts to begin manufacturing vehicles for the first time since plans to shut the facility were first announced three months ago. According to a Bloomberg report, an agreement between management and unions that was forged last week has not led to resumption of production of the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy models. This was the result of protesting workers blocking the operations of a key supplier which is adjacent to the plant, cutting of the supply of key components, according to Ford spokesperson Adrian Schmitz. He added, "We have an agreement with unions and are determined to implement that agreement to restart work at Genk."
