Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) starts local production of XF sedan in India
Represents another development under the automaker's strategy of assembling its vehicles closer to its target markets.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), owned by Tata Motors, has started local assembly of the Jaguar XF sedan in India, reports the Hindu Business Line. The luxury sedan is being produced at Tata Motors' Pune plant alongside the Land Rover Freelander 2 sports utility vehicle (SUV). Powered by a new, 2.2-litre diesel engine, the model will be offered at an entry price of 4.45 million Indian rupees (USD82,790). This is the first time the 2.2-litre diesel engine is available to the Indian market; until now the model has been offered in 3.0-litre V-6 diesel and 5.0-litre V-8 gasoline (petrol) engine choices.
