Nissan to equip several production vehicles with Resonance hybrid powertrain
To include the new Altima sedan and Murano and Pathfinder crossovers.
Nissan will equip several next-generation models with its all-wheel-drive (AWD) hybrid-electric powertrain, which was unveiled in the Resonance crossover concept car at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, reports Automobile magazine, citing Andy Palmer, executive vice-president of Nissan. Palmer hinted that the models that will feature the new hybrid powertrain include the new Altima sedan and Murano and Pathfinder crossovers. The "one motor-two clutch" hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder gasoline (petrol) engine combined with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, and a proprietary Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT).
