Joint purchasing organisation (JPO) had received all relevant regulatory approvals, and would be put into operation shortly.

PSA Peugeot-Citroën and General Motors (GM) have taken the opportunity to flesh out their alliance strategy out further in a statement released yesterday (24 January). Following on from the further details offered last month (see World: 20 December 2012: PSA, GM to expand alliance, drop mid-size car development), the companies have revealed that a new GM C-segment multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), a C-segment crossover utility vehicle (CUV) for Peugeot, and a new B-segment multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) for both automakers would be spun off a PSA platform. However, GM will lead the development of the smaller MPV for the pair. They added that an updated B-segment platform for low emission vehicles, designed for next generation models in Europe and beyond, will be jointly developed by both partners. At the same time, they also revealed that their joint purchasing organisation (JPO) had received all relevant regulatory approvals, and would be put into operation shortly.
