Goodyear Tire & Rubber is said to be considering closing a plant in France, reports Dow Jones Global Equities News. The tyre maker said in a statement that management at its French unit Goodyear Dunlop Tires France is holding a meeting with the Central Works Council, which represents workers at the site in Amiens, on 31 January. Other options are said to include shutting down only part of the plant or selling it. The company added that it will communicate further regarding the plant's strategy "as soon as it is appropriate". However, an official at the office of the Prime Minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault, confirmed that they had "been informed of the risk of imminent closure of this site," reports Reuters.
