Promises to invest nearly 500 million Brazilian reals (USD244 million) at the plant which produces the Chevrolet Classic sedan and the Zafira MPV.

General Motors (GM) has agreed to delay the contentious layoffs it was planning at its São Jose dos Campos factory in São Paulo until the end of the year, reports Reuters. The decision was made after the latest round of negotiations between the automaker and the metalworkers' union on Saturday (26 January). As part of the accord reached between the parties, GM has also promised to invest nearly 500 million Brazilian reals (USD244 million) at the plant which produces the Chevrolet Classic sedan and the Zafira MPV.
