Labour strikes set to hit auto production this week in Haryana state, India
Protest is against the slowdown in growth, increasing inequality, growing informal work, and increasing use of contract labour in factories.
Production in India's largest automotive cluster, the Gurgaon-Manesar-Daruhera belt of manufacturing facilities located in the northern state of Haryana, is likely to be disrupted over the next two days (20–21 February), after a nationwide workers' strike was called jointly by seven labour unions, reports Economic Times. The strike is in protest at central government policies. Nevertheless, most auto companies claim they have received no warning or prior notice from their workers of any possible protests or strikes.
