Production targeted for 2015 model-year vehicle

Visteon has secureded a contract from a European automaker to develop and produce its latest infotainment system, according to the company’s press release. The contract marks the market implementation of the company’s next-generation infotainment platform which is targeted to be launched for 2015 model-year vehicle.

Significance: Visteon says that this will be one of the first automotive implementations of an 'open source' platform and associated applications based on the requirements of GENIVI®. “The new infotainment system is capable of multi-device connectivity to deliver apps and features, stream media, access the internet and seamlessly integrate both Cloud-based and local content to drivers and passengers via a simple and flexible user interface”, said the company.  Visteon expects the audio infotainment segment to grow more than 12% annually over the next five years.
