Renault may review Russian investment strategy due to new recycling fee
Renault unhappy that it was not consulted about the new recycling fee mechanism, given its extensive investment in the Russian market
It has been reported that Renault is reconsidering its investment strategy in Russia as a result of the car scrappage fee regime that the Russian government is planning to introduce. According to an Interfax news agency report, Renault is concerned about how the new car scrappage regime affects the competiveness of its investments in the Russian market. A Renault spokesperson said, "This next change in the rules influences the comparative competitiveness of domestic and foreign investment projects in relation to Russia. We will have to rethink our local investment policy, particularly with regards to projects with limited return, by choosing between imports and local production.
