Company pushing for trade tariffs to be removed between the US and the EU as well as a sharing of safety and environment standards between the two markets.
At a news service event at the Geneva Motor Show Wolfgang Schneider, Ford's European vice-president for governmental affairs, advised that the company is pushing for trade tariffs and barriers to be removed between the US and the EU as well as a sharing of safety and environment standards between the two markets. He said, "It will allow us far more flexibility to produce in the best place…"Do we need this when we sell 500,000 units of a particular model in a country? No. But you are talking about 20,000 or 30,000, yes, because it enables you to bring in niche products". Schneider added that a trans-Atlantic accord could begin bearing fruit by 2020.
