Sberbank confirms Fiat-Chrysler–TagAZ talks over Russian Jeep production

Sberbank signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chrysler to manufacture the Jeep Grand Cherokee at a new facility in St Petersburg though Fiat looks at alternatives.

The Russian state investment bank Sberbank has confirmed press stories that Fiat-Chrysler is in talks with Russian vehicle assembler TagAZ over the manufacturing Jeeps, according to a Dow Jones report. Sberbank has actually signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chrysler to manufacture the Jeep Grand Cherokee at a new facility in St Petersburg, although it appears that the resolve between the two parties to press ahead with this deal appears to have ebbed away, and now Fiat is looking at alternatives.
