Chengdu Economic Development Zone (CEDZ) aims to have local production capacity of 1.4 million vehicles in 2015

The city of Chengdu in China's Sichuan province aims to produce 600,000 vehicles this year and increasing by 64% year-on-year (y/y), with a target to produce over 1 million in 2015. The Chengdu Economic Development Zone (CEDZ) aims to have local production capacity of 1.4 million vehicles in 2015, reports the China Daily. In 2016, the Chengdu government will focus on new energy vehicles (NEVs). The CEDZ plans to promote the NEV industry from 2016 to 2020. By then, the zone aims to locally produce 1.25 million units a year, with revenue of over 900 billion yuan (USD144.82 billion).
