Chinese automaker Great Wall plans to invest about USD300 million to set up a sport utility vehicle (SUV) production plant in Thailand, reports the Bangkok Post. The investment will be made in two phases, with each phase adding 50,000 vehicles to production capacity. Great Wall's deputy general manager Wang Shi Hui, who unveiled the company's Haval SUV at the Bangkok International Motor Show today (28 March), said the plant will produce 100,000 vehicles per year on an area of 800,000 square metres. The exact location of the plant has not been disclosed, but it is likely to be established on an industrial estate in Rayong province. Construction is scheduled to start by the end of this year, with commercial production due in 2015.
