Nasser's statement spurred by the recent downsizing at GM Holden

The former global president of Ford, Jac Nasser, says that the demise of Australian car manufacturing appears inevitable, reports Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) News. Nasser, who headed Ford's global operations from 1998 to 2001, stated, "Let's assume one of the three decide to exit Australia in terms of manufacturing, then you end up potentially with a sub-scale supplier infrastructure and, once that happens, I think it's a domino effect. It would be a very sad day for Australia, but unfortunately it looks like it could be inevitable."
