SsangYong to resume overnight shifts to meet increased demand
Move comes four years after SsangYong scrapped overnight shifts due to its 2009 bankruptcy and subsequent labour agitation against mass layoffs.
SsangYong plans to resume overnight shifts at its Pyeongtaek plant (South Korea) in order to meet increased demand for some of its sports utility vehicles (SUVs), reports Yonhap English News. Under the new shift system set to come into effect next week, some 3,000 of its workers can either work from 08:30 to 17:30 local time or from 21:00 to 07:30. The move comes four years after SsangYong scrapped overnight shifts due to its 2009 bankruptcy and subsequent labour agitation against mass layoffs.
