Fiat reaches agreement with authorities on Mirafiori plant
Fiat is leveraging this government-backed temporary redundancy scheme so as to enable work to take place at the Mirafiori site without workers there.
Fiat and the regional authorities of Piedmont (Italy) have reached an agreement on a new, temporary lay-off scheme for workers at its Mirafiori and Grugliasco plants in and around Turin (Italy), reports La Stampa. Around 5,315 staff at Mirafiori and 315 staff at Grugliasco will be affected. The accord has now been signed by the FIM, UILM, FISMIC, UGL, and Associazione Quadri unions. However, the FIOM has decided not to agree to the measures, having deemed the procedure "unusual".
