Ford to consolidate Fiesta production in Thailand
Influenced by the lack of local sales success for the Fiesta in either India or North America.
Ford plans to shift more production of its Fiesta minicar from North America and India to Thailand by 2016, reports the Detroit News. Ford currently assembles the Fiesta at 10 facilities around the globe. As well as the Maraimalainagar (India) and Cuautitlán (Mexico) plants, the Fiesta is made at Camaçari (Brazil), Chongqing and Nanjing (China), Cologne (Germany), Chung Li (Taiwan), Rayong (Thailand), Valencia (Venezuela), and Nam Sach (Vietnam). No decision has yet been taken regarding production at the Cuautitlán facility, which only produces the Fiesta currently, following the move.
