Second straight year when US automakers reduce summer shutdowns as vehicle demand is expected to touch record levels this year
The Detroit "Big Three" automakers – General Motors (GM), Ford, and Chrysler – plan to reduce their annual two-week July shutdowns at plants across North America, particularly those that produce popular models such as Ford's F-Series pickup trucks and Chrysler's Jeeps, as they scramble to keep up with increased demand, reports the Detroit News.
