Plant Closures & Downtime

To continue assembling such vehicles for the time being to meet large-lot orders but will eventually scale down output.

Mitsubishi has decided to cease production of commercial minivehicles in the future, reports the Nikkei financial daily. Although the automaker plans to continue assembling such vehicles for the time being to meet large-lot orders, it will eventually scale down output because overall volumes are small and profit margins are thin. To begin with, it will reduce production of commercial minivehicles at a plant in Okayama Prefecture by about 20% this fiscal year. The automaker will make a final decision on whether to end production altogether within a few years, but it has decided to continue to develop and assemble electric trucks.
