GAZ begins Mercedes-Benz Sprinter production

Daimler and GAZ will manufacture the Sprinter T1 variant of the company's LCV range at Nizhniy Novgorod, together with powertrains and other associated components

Mercedes-Benz has begun production of its Sprinter light commercial vehicle (LCV) at the plant of manufacturing alliance partner's main facility at Nizhniy Novgorod, according to an RIA Novosti report. Production has started on a small scale, as confirmed by Mercedes-Benz Russia spokesperson Andrei Rodionov. He said, "By 1 September, the first batch of 400–600 vehicles is planned to be assembled." The order books for the Sprinter will open on the 1 July and deliveries will begin on 1 September.
