First set of Volvo models are to be based on Ford technology

Volvo models are to be built at a plant in China's Zhejiang province, reports Esmerk Swedish News. The new plant will open in 2017 or 2018 and will build both Geely and Volvo cars. The first set of Volvo models are to be based on Ford technology – and will be follow-ups of the V40 and S40. Meanwhile, local Chinese media report that another collaboration between Volvo and Geely is to produce vehicles in the Asia-Pacific region. According to rumours reportedly circulating in the industry in China, the companies are forming a new joint venture (JV) to produce both Volvo and Geely cars in the region.
