German automaker's options over its stand on the R1234yf refrigerant appear to be narrowing after the European Commission has backed the legality of France's decision to refuse type approval of certain Mercedes-Benz models

The European Commission has provisionally backed the decision by the French authorities to refuse type approval and registration of Daimler's Mercedes-Benz A-Class, B-Class and SL-Class model ranges manufactured after 12 June, according to a statement released by the office of the European Commission's Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani.
