Fiat, Chrysler working on joint all-, rear-wheel drive architecture
Architecture will underpin the Alfa Romeo Giulia D-segment sedan and a new flagship sedan.
Fiat and Chrysler are working on a new platform that will feature either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, reports Automotive News Europe (ANE). Sources have told the trade publication that the architecture will underpin the Alfa Romeo Giulia D-segment sedan and a new flagship sedan for the brand. They added that it will also be used to underpin the replacement for the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger large sedans in the US, as well as the future Dodge Challenger coupé. One unnamed source added that while it was still in the feasibility study stage at the moment, a decision could be taken at the end of the year with the first production models being spun off it during 2015. However, for now the Giulia has been put on hold again.
