Chinese automakers Chery and Geely have pledged to build new plants outside China as their local market sees a slowdown in exports.

Chinese automakers Chery and Geely, the top two players in passenger vehicle exports from China, are developing their strategic presence in markets that will become localised export hubs for their products. In the most recent developments, Chery has pledged to develop Malaysia as a hub for promoting its vehicles in Southeast Asia, while Geely has announced Belarus as a hub for Eastern Europe.
