Nissan has signed a deal with a Mexican industrial real estate developer, Vesta, to develop an industrial park at Nissan's Aguascalientes, Mexico plant. The industrial supplier park initially involves a projected USD57 million investment, which would locate seven suppliers in five buildings, totalling 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing space. This park is being situated within Nissan's USD2 billion manufacturing complex. Phase 1 at Aguascalientes is expected to be completed by year's end. Nissan joins Honda and Volkswagen in investing in the area. Nissan has a long history of building in Mexico, helped by free trade agreements that enable export within North America as well as also Brazil and Argentina. In fact, Nissan recently celebrated production of 4 million vehicles and 9 million engines at their existing Aguascalientes facility, which opened in 1982.
