Fiat to focus on "localisation" of new Indian launches

Fiat has announced that it plans to assemble almost all its planned new Fiat launches in India locally, reports the Hindu. Nagesh Basavanhalli, CEO and managing director, India Operations, Fiat Chrysler, stated, "Fiat-Chrysler is today the world's seventh largest automobile maker. As and when we are doing more products for India, our goal is always to get to a high level of localisation." He added that for the newer products, the company will adopt a mix of completely built-up units (CBUs) and completely knocked down (CKD) or local assembly.
