Nissan looking to increase production of Leaf at Tennessee plant as demand grows
A decision will be taken next month on whether to add a second shift to production of lithium-ion battery modules
Nissan is making plans to increase production of the Leaf, reportedly based on dealer demand. At a recent management briefing seminar, Bill Krueger, Nissan Americas vice-chairman and senior vice-president of manufacturing, purchasing production engineering, and supply chain management, said that the company is preparing to increase output of electric motors at its Decherd, Tennessee facility. Decherd is staffing up to launch a third work shift that can increase production by a third this fall, easing a pinch-point for Leaf output.
