German authorities recommend further examination of new air conditioning refrigerant
Full report to be released next month, but appears that Daimler – which has boycott the use of R1234yf – may be partially justified in its fears.
Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has recommended further examination of the new R1234yf air conditioning refrigerant following initial tests, reports Reuters. The KBA, which carried out tests using three different levels of severity, has concluded that while the new substance is more hazardous than the R134a refrigerant it replaces, it did not comprise a serious danger.
