Kenyan start-up automotive firm assembles "Africa's cheapest car"
Over 35% of the vehicle's parts are sourced locally with plans to gradually increase local content beyond 40%.
Kenyan-based start-up automotive company Mobius Motors has begun assembling the first five prototypes of its Mobius car at Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers' (KVM) Thika vehicle manufacturing plant in central Kenya, reports the Business Daily. The model, which will be priced at USD6,000, is claimed by Mobius Motors to be the "cheapest car" ever introduced in Africa. The Mobius will use parts sourced from Toyota.
