Summary data from CAAM show Chinese production increased in August

Increase of 11.7% year-on-year (y/y).

The latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) show that vehicle sales and production saw double-digit increases in August 2013. According to the data, a total of 1,677,200 vehicles were produced in the month in China, an annual increase of 11.7% year-on-year (y/y). Total sales in the month rose to 1,648,900 units, up 10.28% y/y. Of this, passenger vehicle production rose by 12.96% y/y to 1,387,800 units, while sales of passenger vehicles rose by 11.02% y/y to 1,353,200 units. On a year-to-date (ytd) basis, total vehicle production and sales in China rose by 12.36% and 11.81% y/y respectively, and a total of 11.26 million passenger vehicles were sold, while a total of 2.7 million commercial vehicles were sold.
