Company says production not affected

A minor fire broke out at Maruti Suzuki's diesel engine plant in Manesar, Haryana, yesterday (18 September), reports the Economic Times. The report adds that the fire started in one of the heat treatment furnaces at the plant and lasted for nearly half an hour before it was put out by the fire brigade. "A minor fire was reported earlier today [Wednesday] from one of the heat treatment furnaces at [the] powertrain plant. The fire was quickly extinguished," the company said in a statement, adding that production was not affected. "There was no injury to anyone due to this incident. There was no loss of production. Work in the plant remains normal." The company did not discuss what caused the fire.
