Plans for plant to start supporting local production by January 2014

Japanese automaker Isuzu has launched the all-new D-MAX pick-up in the Philippines, reports the Philippine Star. Available in seven variants, the new D-MAX is priced between PHP697,000 (USD15,960) and PHP1.5 million. Meanwhile, Isuzu plans to invest PHP60–100 million (USD1.4–2.3 million) in its Laguna vehicle manufacturing plant in the Philippines. The investment is aimed at enabling the plant to start supporting local production of the D-MAX by January 2014, with an initial production target of 4,000 units per annum. Currently, the Philippines receives completely built-up units of the D-MAX pick-up from Thailand. The locally manufactured D-MAX will be sold only in the domestic market.
