Russian passenger car production rises 3.7% y/y in August
But year-to-date (YTD) combined production in the first eight months of the year has fallen by 1.7%
Russian passenger car production rose by 3.7% year on year (y/y) to just over 100,000 units in August, according to a report by the Skrin newswire, citing the Russian state statistics agency RosStat. However, for the year-to-date (YTD) combined production in the first eight months of the year has fallen by 1.7% y/y to 1.2 million units. The production figures of Russia's leading passenger car manufacturer AvtoVAZ fell by 5.1% y/y in August to 46,689 units; the popular Granta model accounted for almost half of this total with volumes up 88% y/y to 21,634 units. The biggest non-Russian manufacturer of passenger cars in August was Hyundai's St Petersburg plant, which manufactured 18,970 units of the Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio in August.
